SNAP – SPECIAL NEEDS ACCESS PROJECT

Recreation, education, and social engagement opportunities for children and adults with special needs in Maryland, Washington, DC, and Virginia. Our expertise and real joy is in providing safe, fun, and confidence building activities that are meaningful and empowering for children. A growing body of scientific evidence demonstrates the importance of movement and play as a critical factor in childhood development. Shadow/FACS (Facilitator, Aide, Companion Services)

In addition to one-on-one community and home based activities we also provide talented caregivers in the classroom environment – A “shadow” someone who is there for your child when needed, and then fades into the background when your child can enjoy greater independence and self-reliance. We are dedicated to connecting children who have special needs to educational, recreational, and social resources in their homes, schools and community. SNAP is something completely new: as a private agency, we are agile, flexible, and creative in ways that school-based programs, public-sector agencies cannot. We can adjust and adapt our processes and methodologies to be exactly what your child needs, not just periodically, but on any given day, in any given moment. Our amazing and diversified staff of caregivers is able to strategically ensure that your children have access to the activities and environments that most effectively promote their happiness, social engagement, and learning. SNAP does not replace your child’s school, we supplementally and dynamically enrich your child’s life.

Our staff members are screened and vetted with mandatory and thorough background and reference checks, drug testing, and personal interviews.
